We’d love for you to join us

expert bloodstock buyers have
partnered to create a pinhooking collective

Bevan Smith Bloodstock (BSB) and Andrew Williams Bloodstock (AWB) can both claim a great record of purchasing high-quality bloodstock and new for 2025, we’re launching an exciting pinhooking collective for the yearling sales season in Australasia.

working together

Two heads are better than one

Bevan & Andy have worked closely on a number of projects and both have proven records of purchasing high-class, profitable horses. Andy is best known for purchasing multi-million-dollar earning Verry Ellegant & Bella Nipotina.

This year Bevan was the yearling purchaser of Warmonger, a successful pinhook that went onto win the G1 Queensland Derby by 10 lengths.

With this proven track record of success and the combination of our expertise in purchasing yearlings, we believe we are in a prime position to identify not only successful pinhooks but also successful racehorses.

The ultimate goal is to pinhook our chosen high quality yearlings at the following season’s 2YO sales.

working with the best

A key part of a successful pinhook is the skilled vendors that produce the 2YO product. Our goal is to sell our pinhooks at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale and the NZB Ready to Run Sale.

We will partner with Sam Beatson of Riversley Park for the NZB Sale - the lending vendor at the sale for the past eight years.

For the Inglis R2R Sale we are partnering with Dean Harvey of Baystone Farm. This year Dean sold the first $1m breeze up horse in the Southern Hemisphere.

Completing the list of vendor partners is Kelly Van Dyk of Prima Park. Bevan already has a strong working relationship with Prima Park and they had a great NZB Sale with an 100% clearance rate and a $600,000 colt sold from only a draft of two horses at the Inglis Sale.

Working together we believe we can source profitable horses that will go on to be successful racehorses

THe PLAN

We will purchase 6-8 yearlings to resell as 2YOs in 2025. Our budget is total purchase price outlay of A$1m on our selected yearlings.

HoW WE WILL ACHIEVE THIS:

  • We will manage all aspects of purchasing from selecting the horses including a stringent vetting process through to insurance, transport and sale placement

  • Our selected yearlings will go on to be prepared and sold through the leading 2YOs sales in Australasia by our experienced and successful vendors

  • We will target good value sales such as Classic, Melbourne and Karaka while looking to Easter for a headline horse

  • We will purchase 40-60% of each horse in conjucntion with our partner vendors who’ll take the rest of the equity

  • The aim is to purchase horses in the 100-150k bracket targeting sires that appeal to the Hong Kong market

The buy in

We would like to offer you the opportunity to join our exclusive pinhook collective with us.

There is 25-30% available in this collective. We would be happy for you take as much or as little of this percentage as you desire.

With a budget of A$1m to put towards purchasing yearlings, a 10% share would be a buy in of A$100,000.

Additional Costs

In the interests of full disclosure, there will be sale and ongoing costs. Sale costs include vetting fees, buyers commission, insurance, transport and GST - if we transport to NZ there will be import GST but no GST on the purchase price (it works out close to the same).

We estimate on-going costs to be approximately $20,000 per horse to prepare them for the following season’s 2YO sales. However, as you know this can vary due to the unpredictable nature of horses.
